I think it really depends on the sitation...and whether or not you believe that person has really changed. Obviously, Im not going to give someone a second chance when they have shown no signs of bettering themselves. But if you have read any of my comments, you will know that I am a big billboard for giving relationships another chance (as you've probably read that my bf and I were together for 2 years, broken up for almost 2, and now have been back together 1 year at the end of this month..yay us!)

For some reason, a lot of people continue to forget the she has a mental illness. She's bipolar. I've talked to a couple of people with this mental illness and you never know what they're going to do. That is when they're not on their medication. Its some form of chemical imbalance where they can play switch-a-roo with their emotions or actions.

Either way, I like Britney. She's always been a real person.

I am with you almostfamous the poor girl is mentally ill people need to cut her some slack. She has a long road ahead of her. I think for the most part people deserve a second chance however if you are not working to better yourself it won't happen until I see some effort.

sometimes the docs give you all these meds, and they have bad reactions to each other, then BOOM. it's worst than being off the meds.

Being bipolar myself, I think it's a lot easier for me to understand Britney's situation. It's not about giving a second chance, it's about being open-minded, respectful, understanding and helpful. The sickness doesn't explain or excuse everything though, but I think people can't really understand until they go through something like it themselves.

It depends on what they did. If they personally do something to you consciously then it takes some time to get over if you ever do.

I believe in second chances in most cases, yes. And insofar as Britney Spears is concerned, I hope that she keeps moving forward. It really is looking like her biggest problem was Sam Lufti drugging her because her behavior is like night and day since he was pushed out of the scene.

I completely support Britney and I'm so happy to see her taking baby steps toward being better. We do need to keep in mind that she has a mental illness that most people won't understand. Her behavior makes perfect sense to me having had friends with bipolar.

Yes, I do believe people deserve second chances. However, if they did something to hurt me bad enough they may not get it.

My mother has psychosis which causes her to deconnect completely if she does not take her medication. So, if you get upset with her behavior when she's out of it, it won't really do anything because she won't know why your angry because it her head it's only logic to act a certain way. Though, when on medication, she functions like any other human being and she's just as smart as anyone else.

So, if my mom would do something during one of her attacks because they dropped her medication too low or because she's living very emotional moments in her life, I'd certainly give her a second chance because she does not want to be this way...

On the other hand, somethings are unforgivable and some boundaries are not to be crossed. And, it really depends who the person is because I'd give a second chance to most of my immediate family members.

For once I'm glad to read that she's doing positive things and be more productive rather than running around town and getting caught up in weird circumstances.

I didn't watch the episode "How I met Your mother" but I saw a clip on E! and it seems that she's pretty good!

Everybody deserves a second chance. We've all made huge mistakes, we've all fallen but you countinue learning.

I'm not convinced that she's in the clear now. I don't think anyone but the people really close to her understand what was happening, and they might not even be able to grasp it completely.

I'll give Britney as many chances as she can get. She hasn't done anything to me, you know? Her kids and her family? That's for them to decide.

In general, I try to give people second chances. I'm willing to accept that people can make mistakes and learn from them. However, do anything to me twice, and you're done.

Family is different though. You have to constantly work at that I think, esp in a parent/child relationship. I understand some of those relationships just totally fall apart but it's typically not because of lack of effort.

i guess it depends on the situations. most of the time, i take the stance of the cold hearted b*tch, though.

For me, it would totally depend on the situation and how close I was to the person to begin with.

It depends on the situation. If my boyfriend cheated on me, I won't even bother giving him a second chance vs. if someone was not in a right state of mind when they did something, I might be willing to overlook what they did and forgive them, or if I have known them for a very long time.

I might forgive a person only if she or he is genuinely remorseful and will never commit any wrong doings against me or anyone else. A second chance is all I'll ever give, nothing more. It's also entirely situation dependent. I don't think I could or would ever forgive people who commit the most heinous of crimes i.e. murder, rape, child abuse, etc.

it all depends on the situation and the person. it depends what they did and what they've done to better themselves. but i'll admit i can hold a mean grudge and sometimes may take a long time to hand out that second chance.
