Remember that Sex and the City where Carrie is lying in bed and a fart accidentally oozes its way out? There is a reason why everyone can relate to her mortification and that's because it's happened to the best of us!
What is your policy on farting and belching in front of your partner? Is it something that you can do in front of each other without feeling colossal humiliation or is it something that you prefer to keep private?

Really, if you aren't comfortable blowing it up in front of your family you aren't being your full self. I say let it all out! Well, once you are an established couple at least. Don't want to scare him off!
1totally. we have wars
2belching yes farting no way never
3We let 'em fly freely around here.
4How could you be embarassed to let them hear you fart, but not embarassed to be INSIDE you? If you are comfortable enough to have sex with someone, you sure as heck better be able to do other natural body functions in front of them.
5I'm fine with it, but Jackson's shy. If it's something that should be done in the bathroom he doesn't want to hear it.
6i agree sweetpea! i hate this whole, "women are so delicate, they NEVER have bodily functions!" idea that so many people (men and women!) perpetuate.
7I am totally being myself with my boyfriend, however I do not feel the specific need to share all of my body functions with him. I pass gas in private and so does he.
I think it's disgusting, no matter who does it. For me it's a matter of acting polite and be considerate enough to not spread stinky air around your partner - not a question of being yourself or not. Passing gas is not really a big part of my personality.
8I'm married and pregnant. yes I fart in front of him
and of course he reciprocates
the love
9I have to wonder if the reponses are based on how long couples have been together. I find the longer you are a couple, the more open people are about this subject.
"We have wars"...LOL!

yeah, we've been together for almost 6 years total. I guess in the beginning stages of the relationship, we were a little more controlled
11let it Rip! theres nothing funnier than a good TOOT! :fart:
12:toot:
13we are past just being comfortable with each other, its actually gross sometimes!!
14I agree with Thoia. Some people are just different I guess. Just because you don't pass gas or burp in front of your partner doesn't mean you guys aren't close. Also, I don't agree with the comment "How could you be embarassed to let them hear you fart, but not embarassed to be INSIDE you?" What about 1 night stands? Many people have them, yet that doesn't AUTOMATICALLY mean that they are comfortable doing the above mentioned things in front of them. It just depends on the PEOPLE in the relationship, not the length of TIME you've been together.
15When I was younger, I would fart in front of my boyfriends and not care. Now I think it's gross and rude. Excuse yourself and go to the bathroom like a civilized human being! It's called MANNERS. Who says you can't be polite and still be comfortable?
There comes a time when it's past being funny and/or cute and is just gross; a point when you don't need to prove how comfortable you are with each other. Then you'll start using the manners your mothers taught you, or wish you had used them all along. Or did your parents go around farting in front of each other and everyone else? Classy.
16Well said, MandyJoBo.
17This is not a big deal. Everyone sh!ts and everyone farts. I don't go out of my way to press it out - but he sh!t happens
18Haha... like the book, Everyone Poops. I wouldn't pass in front of my bf. Maybe when I'm married for a few years and he finally breaks the ice on that one, then it'll be perfectly acceptable, until then I'll be using Beano and excusing myself to the restroom.
19I'd feel uncomfortable around anyone. I'd go to say it is a time thing, but then again, I was with someone for 6 years and I was never comfortable. I eat pretty carefully and don't experience a lot of gas as it is. My boyfriend tried to blame my dog the other day and we thought it was funny and I don't care if he does. He always announces he has to go to the bathroom and comes out grinning saying he really enjoys going to the bathroom. But I think guys have a thing for that as it is. LOL. I guess it depends on the person.
20My fiance and I have to get ready at the same time in the mornings, or one of us would have to get up waaaay earlier, and we would rather sleep longer. It's just not something that weirds us out. It's not like I do it in his face or anything. LMAO
21I belch in front of everybody, guys, my friends, and family. But I will never fart infront of people.
22it is Never OK
23Farting is nasty! And its so embarrasing. As long as I can control it I never do it in front of hubby and we've been married 8 years!
24are you kidding? we chase each other down and sit on each other first.
hahahaha...
25LOL Jeani that is hilarious
26I agree with Thoia and MandyJoBo - I find it rude and I do not like to smell someone else's brand. There is something called manners. I deal with my boyfriends farts - but he was raised without the manners I adhere to. I do not think it is "being yourself" if you fart.
27I am not saying hold it in - go in the other room, get it out - make sure it doesn't follow you. If a fart slips out - oh well!
yayita, yes. we are just that mature. but i learned my lesson: never feed the hubby curry again.
28I will fart around my boyfriend and he will fart around me.
29After letting him watch me birth his 2 kids why would I honestly care?

Jan 23rd 1:08 Am Weighing 7lbs and 7 oz and 19 inches tall!! Welcome to the world Nicky!
LMAO, Honey31. Sounds like a song lyric.
I will fart around my boyfriend
31And he will fart around me
Because out of love everlasting
We let our air flow free.
ahahahaha! I'm going to set that to music and it can become my special song with my hubby.
32Hey, I made chili for dinner, what do you expect?
hahahahahaa jeani
33My fiance does it all the time, but I would NEVER!!! I agree with everyone who says it's just simple good manners! Really, how hard is it to get up and do it somewhere else? I understand sometimes it just happens, but it's gross to make a conscious effort to push it out...especially in bed! I have made a no farting in bed rule for him...we'll see how long that lasts!
34OK, I had to chime in. My mom's family is one giant gas factory (we swear it's in the genes), and if we had to run out of the room every time, we'd never see each other.
So, while I think it's a good idea to *try* to be polite about it, I don't think it's always
feasible, and you shouldn't be villified for letting one go now and then.
And not to offend anyone (I swear!), I couldn't help but hear some prim Victorian voice reading all those "I was raised with good manners" posts!
35lol Bluejeanie! Bunbunhun, totally get what you are saying.
I remember my best friend's boyfriend being surprised women fart, because his mother never did! LMAO How ridiculous.

Everyone has to pass gas at some time, the difference between TYPES of people is how they do it. I'm proud to be a polite person. It's interesting to me how people are saying you're not being your true self if you can't pass gas in front of the people close to you. I consider being your "true" self who you are when you're NOT just in the comfort of people you know. I guess that means everyone - unless they go around farting in front of anyone - is never their true selves except when they're stinking up their friends' spaces.
37farting? no way! thats gross!
38anything else is fine between us! we'd laugh and say "aw...."
if it happened.. oops.. but we dont make a habit of it.. i much prefer for him to walk away and do it.. itsjust stinky
!! lol!
39beautiful !!! if a woman takes it from behind, farting is inevitable - so what´s the problem ?
