Today, March 10th, is National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. We all know that HIV and AIDS is out there, but still, so many people are uneducated and unaware of the power of this disease. Annie Lennox, with the help of 23 other well known singers, is raising awareness and asking people to "Sing" for the cause. All the proceeds from purchasing the song "Sing" will go to the Treatment Action Campaign, an organization founded in 1998 in Cape Town, Africa that campaigns for both HIV treatment and the reduction of HIV infections. You don't have to be a celebrity to help in the fight against HIV/AIDS. You can do your part too so check out the Department of Health and Human Resources suggestions by clicking here to read more

Gah I wish everyone had it like I did... 2 weeks ago I got tested for every STD imaginable... YAY i'm HIV and STD free... but my insurance paid for it so it was essentially free.... I wish everyone had that luxury... my Gyno said the odds of me getting HIV were lower compared to getting other just as serious stds... so I think we need to focus on getting tested for EVERYTHING and help eradicate these diseases with safe sex!....
1Thanks for posting this Dear.
2Although we all hear the facts and see the realities that numerous people live with everyday, too many still feel like this disease will never affect them, and that could not be a more life threatening mentality to have. The face of HIV/AIDS is too often portrayed as that of a starving "third world" person, and that message fools others into thinking that it is a disease which is for the "other". There is no region of the world left untouched by HIV/AIDS, and EVERYONE should take steps to protect themselves. Especially: women need to ensure that they take measures to educate and protect themselves, because this disease is hitting (and has hit) young women the hardest!
absolutely, IslandGirl. Many people are too naive about this disease. Good post Dear!
