In a move that was expected, though not entirely uncontroversial, President George W. Bush has formally endorsed Senator John McCain in his bid for the White House.
In an arguably uncomfortable or casually rowdy presentation at the White House, George Bush said, "I've campaigned for him and I've campaigned against him . . . and I'm proud to be his friend."
In response to questions of a seeming extension of the current administration, George Bush said he ran on change in 2000, but not in 2004. He said, "every candidate has to say change. That's what the American people want." He went on to say that McCain has the experience to face to the challenges saying, "John McCain understands those stakes." Whether he endorses McCain or is against him, Bush said of his official stance, either way, "I want him to win."

2I don't think this endorsement is going to do anything either way. Of course Bush would pick McCain over either Democrat.

4Who else would he endorse? Hilary? I mean come on this is not shocking, and people are going to know that it is just for show and not take it seriously. This will not have any affect of McCains campaign.

juju, almost all Republican's point out that Liberals are big spenders. They do this because it is true.
7I didn't see this but I heard a commentary on the radio which also was on a morning tv show stating that a perfect running mate would be.... Jeb Bush (bro to W and former gov. of FL). Don't know if anyone would think that was a good idea- no change coming then, but I never thought of that.

I don't think this will affect McCain in any way.
9Jeb has been brought up a few times and pretty much everyone has counted him out for the VP nom. There's no reason to take him on.
If W. wasn't Pres I doubt anyone would really be mentioning Jeb's name in relation to the VP.
Additionally, I don't think McCain would want a Bush in his office.
10But maybe he'd like a nice ficus in his office. Who knows?

13Eh, I don't think this is such a big deal actually. He's the President. McCain is the nominee for his party. It will help him with those who like Bush and those who don't like Bush probably aren't looking to McCain much, anyway.
14Jeb is the one Bush I do like, besides maybe Barbara Sr. But no, having a Bush in the VP slot will not help. Not that having W's nomination will help.

20I'd think it might hurt his chances given how low Bush's approval rating has dropped since his last election. I think the American public has learned their lesson about him by now.
21This is news? Of course he'll support McCain, the two share the exact same views (which are the same views that made the country the mess it is today.) Ugh, Bush & McCain get on my nerves.

23Remember Tuesday? That was the day Bush's ballot got counted in TX -- a day he wouldn't say for whom he voted. Duh he endorses McCain. He's the R nom. Really, I think you are dumb if this affects your vote. The leading Republican endorsed the Republican.
I know this will send shockwaves through the universe, but I'm predicting DNC chair Howard Dean will endorse either Hillary or Barack once one of them gets the nomination.
24In a month, he went from the "straight talk express" to the "George Dubya Playbook." He doesn't realize that the majority of American's want a reversal of all the Bush policies. They say that Bush still has the support of the Republican base. So much support from his Republican base that many Republicans are crossing over parties to vote for Obama...
