I'm not sure where the concept originated, but when your significant other knows how you take your coffee, it's assumed that your relationship has really made it, so to speak! I think movies and television really exaggerate this notion but it got me thinking about reality and relationships. I'm sure we all have a specific way we like our coffee but do tell ladies, does your significant other know just how you like it?

I would hope after 7 years of marriage and coffee together most of those days he would know.
I honestly didn't drink much coffee before we were together, so it was his fault and he was sure to get it right so that we could share a pot together!
1Of course... but he rarely makes me my coffee at home. he knows how to order my coffee when we go through the drive through lol but when i get up... it's "there's coffee if u want" he doesnt offer to make me a cup... bastard.
2Yes he does, and better still he's a Starbucks Coffee Master with a decent kit at home so I always get lovely coffee.
3I'm not a coffee drinker, but he knows I like my Ice Tea, Lemon-Lime Gatorade and Cranberry Juice...all with A TON OF CRUSHED ICE!!!!
mmmm....
4Of course he knows!
He brings me some at my work almost everyday! And we even live together!
It's not coffee though, it's steeped tea. From Tim Hortons. With 2 milk 2 sugar...yuuuuum
5of course! coffee time with my boy is the best time. we both take it black so that's easy.
6Yup- black. Easy peasy.
7I never drink coffee with my boyfriend. I hate american coffee and I only drink it as a social morning thing @ work. Also we don't own a coffee maker. So no he doesnt know, but can't really blame him =). I do know he doesn't do coffee =)
8hey darkangel, my husband hates american coffee too!
I guess he knows, I really
don't drink it at home, but he does know what I like when we go to a coffee shop - although I prefer ordering because I like to make the decision on my own (I don't ALWAYS want the same
thing,
9he knows my dunkin and home coffee preferences, but not my complicated starbucks order.
10nope he doesn't... he's always at class or sleeping when i'm making it.
11I guess we've made it, then! He makes my coffee for me every morning. Of course, I like it black, so that makes it a little easier....
12I drink it black, which he knows because he makes fun of me for being "pretentious".
13Yes he knows. I think this is funny though. I wonder if someone is going to think their relationship is shot to hell because her man doesn't know how she takes her coffee.
14I think he would probably put sugar in it, but I just take coffee with cream.
15yup- but since we get up at different times he doesn't make it for me, but he leaves everything out for me with a clean spoon
16He knows how to make my coffee and tea, which I take differently from each other. But my girlfriend's husband doesn't know how she takes hers, and they're married 12 years, which I think is odd. And anytime I'm there, he's always asking her where the sugar is. He doesn't know where the sugar is after 12 years??
17Yes, he does.
Marci, That is bizarre! How does one not know where the sugar is after so many years? Maybe she moves it around, just to drive him nuts! Or maybe he's just extremely absent minded! Still bizarre.
18I don't drink coffee and he know's it
I know how he takes his though.
19I'm glad he likes it black b/c that makes it easy. I don't drink coffee around him (I do it mainly at work), so I don't really expect him to know what I like down to a t. He just knows I like mocha stuff or a lot of creamer.
20It's easy for my fiance because the only time I ever drink anything coffee-based is when I have a Grande Vanilla Soy Latte, add a shot, from Starbucks. And that's only once every month or so.
21I don't drink coffee but he knows that I like my Earl Grey tea with one packet of honey and he even knows how long I like to keep the tea bag in there
22Haha, even his dad knows how I take my coffee.
23Nope. He knows I don't even like coffee.
24My boyfriend surprised me with my extra hot soy chai from Starbucks a couple weeks ago. We've only been to Starbucks together a couple times (but we've been together for over two years,) so talk about a nice little surprise. Way better than flowers!
25I remember one time I had my boyfriend pick me up a coffee. I told him how many Splendas to put in it, but I was so impressed when I saw that he put just the right amount of milk in to make it the color I like. It was such a stupid little thing, but I felt happy knowing that he had remembered.
26Hm, coffee is pretty simple as long as you drink it too, I've never dated anyone who didnt know how I take it.
27he sure does
28Whenever he brings me a cup of coffee, he brings a cup of black coffee and the milk separately so I can put as much milk as I feel like. He then goes back to the kitchen with the milk and comes back with his own cup. He's really sweet. And whenever we go out, I'm the one who does all the ordering because he doesn't speak French.
29Yup, he knows my grande nonfat latte
30ha ha. this is funny, because my ex, who is in town for business was at a mutual friend's house this weekend, and we were all gonna drink some coffee.
and he offered to make my cup for me (i was holding my friend's baby- YES, i DO like the babes), so i was like ok. and he knew how much junk i wanted in my coffee. it didn't earn him nookie points, but i did say thank you.
i put like 7, 8 teaspoons of sugar in my coffee. sometimes i lose count. and i LOVE french vanilla cream. . .LOTS of it.
31when i go to Starbuck (drive thru), i ask for more sugar, and the girl always gives me 2 more packets. one day i had to tell her i REALLY want extra sugar, and that i'll pay extra for it, and she was like, "it's not good for you . . .".
now see, i try my d*mnedest not to snap so early in the morning. but it's always ONE person who takes me there.
32ashcwebb----- im so jealous of u, i miss tim hortons sooooooooooooooooooooo much, a large regular every morning used to make my day =(
im in chicago now, no tim hortons =(
but yea hubby knows how i take my coffee
33heck, when i was working i knew how every single person at work liked their coffee =)
34Yes, but this reminds me of the movie Green Card, when the husband is quizzed about his wife's face cream and he doesn't know it. I always wonder if my boyfriend could name my brand of lotion. Maybe, maybe not. But these are the important issues that get lost now that The Newlywed Game is off the air.
35I believe he doesn't, bc he never makes it :/
36Yes, he knows!
37He knows how I take most of my food actually.
Lol. My hubby doesn't even know how he takes his own coffee!!! He has actually called me before to say "Hey, what do I get at Starbucks?" Coffee is just not his thing.
38I don't drink coffee, but I know what he likes.
39Yes, he knows what I like in my coffee & vice versa!
40I don't drink caffeinated beverages but he knows which teabags I like.
I know how he takes his tea! I even make him one when he stays over for when he wakes up.
41Oh geez. If he can't even remember how you like your coffee, do you think he's gonna remember what you like in bed?
42yup (: enough long talks at starbucks
43I dunno if this is one he would know...considering I only drink coffee at work. If he were really attentive though he might have caught me talking about it one day though. I like it mostly black with a smidge (teaspoon) of coffee mate powder creamer...
44No coffee for this girl, just chai.
45he sure does. we both drink ours the same, lots of sugar and just enough cream to make it a light brown color. (he never drank coffee before me, but now he loves the stuff)
46Yep! He knows how I like my regular coffee and what I order at Starbucks. And I know his.
47he makes me coffee every morning.... and he knows my complicated starbucks orders. i drink three in rotation
48Of course my husband knows how I drink my coffee. I love it black. And I know that he takes two sugars and a little milk. It's the little things that make a relationship last.
