Ashlee Simpson has been sporting a diamond ring on her left ring finger, which has recently caused quite a stir. Ashlee was quoted saying, "it just means that he (Pete Wentz) hasn't asked my dad yet."

This got me thinking — what's the point of buying an expensive ring to wear on the same ring finger as an engagement ring if you're not going to just pop the question?
