In this video, anonymous ex-Nader supporters beg him not to run for US president this year. Many believe that if Ralph Nadar stayed out, Al Gore would have won the White House in 2000. The narrator in the video, says progressives must vote strategically and practically this year.

Seriously, though, this is why I'm not keen on voting for independents - they can't win, and they might make someone else lose. Actually I'm still not sure how I feel about it.
2I love Ralph Nader, and I think he would be a capable leader. However, this race is way too close on the Democratic side, and Nader could only screw over those candidates over by entering the race so late.
3A friend of mine was saying that Obama should/would run as a third party candidate and take on a Republican vice-president if Clinton got the nomination.
At first, I thought: great! But it would be a totally double-edged sword. He would take more Democratic votes away from her than he would take Republican votes from (presumably) McCain.
I hope this doesn't happen.

6Well, Ralph Nader is awesome. This clip is pretty awesome too! He's always had a good sense of humor about the whole situation, and honestly his point is a simple, but true one, that Al Gore made HIM lose the election.
"Vote strategically, and not from high-minded ideology." I didn't vote in the last election, because I couldn't bear to vote for Kerry, and was not going to vote for Bush. I should have followed the advice from this quote, and I certainly will this year. I still haven't come close to making up my mind about who to vote for, and I think ideology obviously has to play some role!

7First of all, I don't know why any one should really be worried about Ralph Nader. The guy, despite having a noble and legitimate career, has become a joke. The only people that would vote for him are people that probably wouldn't vote for NEITHER Obama NOR Clinton.

Honestly, it really ticks me off that so many Americans insist on buying into this two-party mindset. The lesser of two evils is absolutely not good enough. Imagine how much better off we'd all be if we would vote for the people that really DESERVE to sit in that seat - regardless of what party they are in - and if we refuse to get wrapped up into what the overly comfortable Republicans/Democrats career politicians tell us. Even though both parties drift further and further from their ideals, they still maintain their power because everybody is buying into their false and self-serving notion that "a vote for this third party is really a vote for the other party." It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

9i too love ralph nader...he is progressive enough to actually make a real, and effective change in this world. in maine, where i live, we had 3% of the population vote for nader in 2000 making the green party a viable third party on our ballot...and still the popular vote was for gore here and the electorals, too. i voted green that year, but not during the next election after realizing how important it was to get bush out of the white house, even though i did not like kerry. much to my chagrin, that did not happen.

By saying that Ralph Nadar shouldn't run for president your giving in to the fascism thats beginning to run this country, and by the way there is no chance in hell that Gore could have won the election with or without Nadar. Trust me for one look at the Governer of Florida, another look at the fact he was in the Skulls and Bones (if you don't believe me google it or ask any respectable person with any sort of person that studies politics) which is starting to run the way this country works. People if you say one person can't run how long until you say another person shouldn't or another person! Think about it!
