Right. In some places it's still a little before breakfast, and well, Fox News just made sure I don't want any. A recent Department of Homeland Security report aiming to educate about the recent spate of female suicide bombers included this:
"Female suicide bombers may carry explosives devices in a backpack, briefcase, or purse, or hidden in an article of clothing . . . They have also carried explosives in prosthetic devices that mimic the look of a pregnant woman."
And now for the picture.

Did Fox News trip over the line and sensationalize this story? They were, technically, reporting the news . . . Am I just being too sensitive?

I agree, Citizen. Totally unnecessary.
1It was a little much but they have to report it even though they might have sensationalized it.
2Wait, IEDs *aren't* Infant Exploding Devices?
3i don't know if it's stomach-turning. maybe just annoying? i think they could have made their point without the picture. i mean, "pregnant" is not that hard to visualize. but anyway.
4I don't really get what the issue is here. On TV, they often use visuals. It's not like they showed a blown up pregnant woman's guts. It's just showing how the device looks.
Is this really why people don't like Fox News? Seems like there really has to be more interesting things going on today.
5ugh. completely unnecessary.
6Fox News tries to not disciminate in what it shows. They showed Sadam before and after he did his rope dance. CNN was focusing on stories about what he was going to go through as he was hung. They even had a doctor showing a diagram of the human body and what it was like to be hung and how long it was going to take him to die. Just show him swinging already.
Fox News also elected NOT to show that nutcase that killed the VA Tech students. Brian Williams at NBC did. So I think all of the channels are selective but I would much rather see a fake pregnant torso than some loony murderer get his 15 minutes.
7Like I can't figure out what a "suicide bomber disguised as a pregnant woman" looks like?? Fox Entertainment, oh I meant News, sorry... is the worst network.
8That's so weird, because Fox is usually about hard news stories with integrity and depth. I with they'd get back to 24/7 coverage of Anna Nicole Smith's child custody battle.
9Looking at that picture doesn't make my stomach turn or anything. It's a plastic torso! I'm sure it would have been fine on CNN.
10Like I said, they don't discriminate!
11It looks like a Barbie doll I had when I was little that had a swing stomach with a little baby inside. It was a disturbing toy.
12What the heck is the big deal? I am actually sort of interested in how it looks. And oh please raciccarone, CNN does the same thing. When Anna Nicole died that is all they showed. Both channels have their pros- and Cons. Neither is innocent and both spew propaganda.
13I have no problem with it, its not stomach turning.
besides this is america right? where movies depicting the disembowlment of women and men make millions.
14Wow... sometimes I'm worried about my fellow women. The key factor to this story is that Fox News is behind it. THAT is what is outraging you all, not the picture of some fake belly. This is such a non-issue, I am really dismayed that you guys are actually whining and moaning about it.
15foxie, I agree.
Why is it that there are always people whining about Fox News?
Pathetic!
16Citizen...sensationalism is the name of the media game!!! Everything has taken this "News of the World" approach...now if that was two separate bellies with a gelatinous face...I might have actually been interested in something FoxNews had to say!!!
17Because Fox News is the #1 news channel. And liberals can't stand that.
18Lol piper!
19I hear you tiabia. I guess in retrospect it wasn't the photo as much as the bright red headline with the weird semi-pun that caught my eye. Nonetheless, the whole package shocked me, so yes--points to Fox for getting my attention!
20I dont know. I'd be more annoyed that people would find something on Fox News disturbing, considering the source.
We learned about fake preg. female bombers almost 8 years ago now in one of my terrorism classes in college.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is that I dont find anything sensational about that news story at all. It just seems factual?
21fox doesn't deserve a bad rap for this.
22I don't have time to write much because I'm in the middle of filling out a DHS complaint about the pregnant woman down the hall...
I don't get what's wrong with this either. I mean, I hate fox news as much as the next liberal (actually, I hate all TV news. I'm all about NPR!), but I don't see how this is upsetting.
23Ahh, Piper!! Yes.
24Looks like a lot of people here are drinking the FoxNews kool-aid...
25"Looks like a lot of people here are drinking the FoxNews kool-aid..."
